Achievement lead c.v.'s

This is part 2 of my last blog. You should now have a list of how you have contributed over and above your normal duties and therefore have a list of your 'achievements'.

Here's some suggested on wording. Bear in mind the people read left to right, so the first words have to grab their attention!

Exceeded targets by 20%+ during the last 6 months
Streamlined the payroll system resulting in cost savings of 10%
Increased turnover during 2009 by 15% through....
Designed and wrote a successful training programme delivered to 4000 employees in 2008
Voted 'Student of the Year' for 2008

I'm sure you get a flavour of how to describe your achievements to the best effect. Words like Directed - Supervised - Coordinated - Delivered are all "doing" words and show that you are pro-active. Employers like pro-active people, so if you are one of them, shout about it!

Achievement lead c.v.'s

Employers these days want to know that they are getting real value for money. They want people who will go the extra mile and really make a contribution to their bottom line.

I am sure there are many things you are proud of in your careeer so far, so get them down on your c.v. as achievements and let the prospective employer know what an asset you are going to be!

Take a minute and jot down two or three things (for each job you have done) where you have 'achieved' over and above your day-to-day duties. Have you done something that has added profit to the bottom line? Have you sold much more than your targets? Have you given exemplary customer service, and been recognised for it? Have you streamlined a system?

Write it all down and then come back in a couple of days to see how to put this in the body of your c.v.

Till then,
